Bantam 1/2

The Bantam team is comprised of 1st & 2nd graders. Games are played in a 4v4 format with all players operating as both offense and defense. Players are allowed on all parts of the short field; there are no offsides nor is there a goalie at this level. The goal of Bantam is to develop a love for the game while learning fundamental stick skills & teamwork.

WHEN

The regular season runs in the Spring.

Practices begin in January.

Games start in mid-February and wrap up by mid-May.

Where

Most practices are held at Lake Creek Park in central Round Rock.

Home games are played at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex, Stony Point High School or Round Rock High School.

Away games are played all over the Austin metro-area including locations in the NW like Liberty Hill and those in the south like Dripping Springs.

Practices

Bantam will practice 2-3 times per week. Practice intervals are often shorter (1 hour) in order to accommodate earlier schedules and shorter attention spans of our youngest team members.

Games

Generally Bantam will play up to 8 games in a season. Games at this level may be a mix of league games, in-house league play, and play days.

Uniforms

Bantams will receive a reversible loaner pinnie (jersey) to use during the season. Pinnies will be returned a the end of the season.

Equipment Rental

To help mitigate the cost of purchasing equipment, rental equipment is available on a first come, first served basis during the registration process.

Equipment You Provide

At all levels of play, players must provide their own mouth guard, protective cup, & cleats. We do not offer these in our rental package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Weekday practices start early - what if I can't get there exactly on time?

Please bring your player to practice, even if you will be late. 30 minutes of practice is better than none at all.

What if my player can't make all of the practices?

We strongly encourage players to make all practices and to take practice seriously. This is a team sport and practice with the team is important. However, we understand that an occasional absence cannot be avoided. Parents should inform the coach of a player's impending absence through the team app. Excessive absences may reduce player participation time in games at our older team levels.

My daughter would like to play lacrosse, do the Rattlers have a girls team?

The Rattlers do not currently have a girls team however several girls have opted to play for the Rattlers in the past. Girls who play for the Rattlers play boys lacrosse with boys equipment. If your daughter would rather play for a girls team, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with the girls teams we know.

What is a "Play Day?"

Occasionally teams will host mini-tournaments called "Play Days." Typically these are offered to Bantam & Lightning level teams where there are no play-off considerations. When participating in Play Days the team will play 2-3 games in one single day or over a single weekend all at the host team's fields.

What is an in-house league?

An in-house league is a group of teams who agree to play together on a specific schedule. Depending on the league, teams may stay intact (i.e. Rattlers) or the organizers may mix players up each week into different temporary team groupings. The goal of an in-house league is to promote a love of lacrosse, get our youngest players consistent weekly or bi-weekly game times, and build relationships across clubs.
